Trail running is no longer reserved for experienced mountain athletes. It is becoming an exciting way for everyday runners to explore nature, challenge themselves and reconnect with places beyond city roads.

Why are runners moving towards trails?

Unlike a road race, a trail run is shaped by its surroundings. Forest paths, uneven ground, climbs, changing weather and natural obstacles require runners to focus on effort rather than pace alone.

  • A break from repetitive city routes
  • Improved balance, strength and concentration
  • A closer connection with forests and natural landscapes
  • The opportunity to discover lesser-known destinations
  • A strong sense of community among runners and volunteers

Every trail is different, making its completion a personal achievement regardless of finishing time.

A trail event should benefit its destination

A responsible event should not treat its venue merely as a backdrop. It should respect the landscape, involve local communities and encourage visitors to understand the destination.

Responsible participation can be simple:

  • Carry reusable hydration wherever required.
  • Never discard wrappers or bottles on the route.
  • Remain on the marked trail.
  • Avoid disturbing plants and wildlife.
  • Respect volunteers and local communities.
  • Follow Forest Department and organiser instructions.
  • Carry back everything brought onto the trail.

Safety comes before speed

Natural terrain demands preparation. Runners must account for loose soil, rocks, roots, climbs, thorns, heat and changing conditions.

  • Train gradually on varied terrain.
  • Select a distance appropriate to current fitness.
  • Use shoes with dependable grip.
  • Test clothing, hydration and nutrition during training.
  • Read route, equipment and safety instructions.
  • Report medical concerns honestly.
  • Be prepared to slow down or walk difficult sections.

For longer or more technical categories, closed trail shoes and suitable protective clothing are important safety equipment.

GTR brings this movement to Mancherial

The GreenSequr Trail Run invites runners to experience the forest landscape of Mancherial, Telangana, on Sunday, 11 October 2026.

  • 5 KM — Fun Run
  • 10 KM — Nature Run
  • 30 KM — Ultimate Trail

The event is designed around participation, nature, responsible trail behaviour and the identity of Mancherial. The finish line is important—but how we reach it, how we treat the trail and what we leave behind matter even more.

Choose your challenge. Register on the official iFinish portal. Course access and event arrangements remain subject to official permissions and final organiser communication.
